How did I get here?
Technology and Automotive have long been obsessions of mine. My dad could tell you a pretty funny story about how I would take and hide keys as a child, so that I could guess which kind of car they went to!
This made it a natural transition for me when I first started as an intern at an automotive group in 2012. Quickly rising through the ranks, I realized that ideas I had to innovate the dealership often did not have the technology available to support it. I spent many years trying to hack together disparate solutions only to be thwarted by a paywall, bad file format, or some other blocker.
This frustration on the retail side of the business led me to consulting and working closely with OEM partners, increasing my knowledge and influence on what is important to users on the front line, providing experiences that consumers want and feel comfortable with.
Omotenashi- Japanese for honesty and transparency in experiences where you are serving others, became an important part of my approach during my time consulting for Lexus. Kaizen- Japanese for continuous change for the better also became a leading principle for me, leading me into my next role.
